Read the latest from Jim Fisher. The EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM improves upon the first version of the lens, but isn't the best 24-105mm available for the Canon system.
Get the f/4L if you want f/4, L-build w/weather sealing, focus distance scale, and aren't as concerned with silent AF in LiveView/Video. Otherwise I expect the new lens to sell for less and be very good, a la the 18-135 STM which it very much resembles. I could be (and often am) wrong , but I would not hold out for a f/4L II anytime soon. IMHO
